There’s “living the Spanish dream” and there’s really living the Spanish dream and this 100 year old finca in Catral is as real as it’s going to get. On a plot of 4700m2 in the tranquil Vega Baja countryside this authentic and charmingly rustic property is, quite simply, captivating. The current owners have done a lot of work to it but have extremely skillfuly maintained its tradtional feel. Behind the large gates at the entrance to the property, there’s enough space to park about 15 cars. Then there’s the house itself.
With two bedrooms just inside the front entrance, the master bedroom is en-suite and has a very large walk in wardobe. Down the short passage, there’s a spacious open plan living/dining area and an arch to the large kitchen. The lighting in this area and kitchen is provided by what we are reliably informed are authentic ship’s lights suspended from the ceiling. Heating is provided by possibly the largest Danish wood stove we’ve ever seen which heats the entire house. Off of the kitchen there is another bathroom towards the back and to the side, access to a covered outside terrace area which is used for outside dining. The views of the garden there are amazing. To the other side of the kitchen there’s access to a small courtyard area; the perfect outside living space for the summer. To the left of the main house, there is a large wooden outbuilding with its bedroom, bathroom and living area which could be used as a permanent living space or for visiting family.
The main plot has more about it than we could possibly do justice to in this description. There’s a splash pool, numerous trees, a beautiful small wooden pergola (a great meditation spot), another covered area and well, just loads of gorgeous tranquil space. The 360 tour will be available shortly but the only way you can really feel this place to visit it. Frankly speaking we’d love to go along with you, just to visit it again!
