Benimar Urbanisation

Benimar lies to the North East of the village of Benijófar.  Over the 20 or so years since construction began on Benimar, the expansion of both Benimar and Benijófar over recent years has seen the boundaries between the two become almost indistinguishable; a large part of the Benimar urbanisation falls under the care of the Benijófar town hall (town hall in Spanish is Ayuntamiento), the other being served by the Ayuntamiento of Rojales.

Benimar is a quiet, trouble-free urbanisation populated in the main by foreigners. The main nationalities to be found in Benimar are British, Dutch and Belgian with a slightly lesser German and Scandinavian population.

Medical services are close by (the medical centre one attends depends on which part of the urbanisation one lives in), and the urbanisation is served by the University Hospital of Torrevieja. Similarly, the urbanisation is within the catchment area of two local primary schools, Benijófar and Rojales, and one high school, IES La Encanta, Rojales. The AP 7 Motorway just a couple of kilometres away and Alicante airport is a 40 minute drive.

Benimar Daylife/Nightlife

Benimar has traditionally always had a fairly vibrant social scene, particularly in the summer months, and several of the bars and restaurants in Benimar have enjoyed some considerable longevity which is testament to their quality and they are popular with locals and tourists alike throughout the entire year. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are always available, and the range of choice of where to eat is wide. British, Dutch, Indian, Chinese, Italian, Mexican and (not least importantly) Spanish places can all be found there. Summer 2020 has seen completion of a brand new commercial centre on the border between Benijófar and Benimar, adding further quality to Benimar’s social repertoire.

Based on the personal experience of members of the Free Real Estate team, the general standard of Benimar’s eateries is very good, partly due to its diversity though mainly due to the high standards set by the business owners. The atmosphere in the Benimar is relaxed and very friendly.

Other Attractions

Benimar is within walking distance to the Aqua Park Rojales, and the local golf courses, shopping centres and beaches are all within very easy driving distance.
